The local councils have been created with a scope to satisfy its residents' demands and problems. With this as its purpose, the Sliema Local Council is open for the public from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 12:30 and 1415 to 1700 in the winter months (1 October to 15 June) and from Monday to Friday 08:00 to 12:30 in the summer months (16 June to 30 September). Permits and any other cash payments are accepted till 12:30 throughout all the year. These offices can be contacted on telephone 2133 7633 or by email sliema.lc@gov.mt.

We try our best to solve all the demands and problems we are approached with, however we also depend greatly on other entities to action some of the solutions we propose.

With the website, the council is providing all the latest information on our locality, such as a "List of Roads closed to Traffic" which is updated daily. Construction in our town is one of the major problems we deal with on a daily basis. With the daily list, we are aiming to keep you, the citizen, updated on the roads that are closed to traffic due to any type of works being done. We are very careful not to issue permits to roads neighbouring where permitted construction is present. We have also introduced the presence of a warden for the main and busy roads. Roads that require the services of a warden to control traffic are: Tower Road, Bisazza, Manwel Dimech, The Strand, Tigne Seafront, Tigne Street, St Anthony, St Agatha, Dingli, Old College, Mrabat, Rudolph, High, Qui-Si-Sana Seafront, Għar id-Dud and Għar il-Lenbi Street.

This is done in order to achieve smoother traffic flows and to be of the least inconvenience to all. Unfortunately, as always, you find persons who still work without a permit and we would appreciate if these offenders are reported to the council or to the Police for the necessary action to be taken immediately.

The Council planned to have two yearly breaks from road closure and construction works, to try and give a break to the Sliema residents. One during the summer month (12th to 19th August) and another at Christmas time (23rd December to 2nd January). Moreover, on a regular basis no permits are issued on Sundays and Public Holidays and no permits are issued before 7.00am except on very rare occasions when the danger arises.

The Council is a mean of communication to our residents, and your feedback is always greatly appreciated.
